This morning I took my first #ballet class in 8 years. I danced intensively for 7 years after being diagnosed with juvenile arthritis - 6 days a week, 6 hours a day at the height of my training. I wanted to be a professional ballet dancer. When my hip deteriorated to the point of no return, I gave up completely. I lost a lot of fight, a lot of spark, and a lot of drive.
In the past couple of years, I've been inspired by a lot of people. I see people in the #rheum, #chroniclife, and #spoonie communities doing the things they love and defying limitations, even if it isn't always pretty. Thank you all for showing me that the things you love are worth doing, even when you have to fight tooth and nail for them. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go put ice on every part of my body and not move for the rest of the day!
